* These garnets are from a new find in Mahenge, Tanzania, the same region famous for its spinels. The color is so unusual we have affectionately nicknamed these our ‘padparadscha garnets’. The colors we have range from a yellow peach to a pinky peach, they are unheated and untreated in any way. They are unlike anything we have seen before. With the toughness of garnet, these will make very good ring stones, with a reasonably protective setting.

Description: Big and beautiful Mahenge garnet round. Brilliant and flashy, color in N daylight is a lovely peach, and under incandescents -a flaming peach! Under fluorescent light it shifts to a yellow peach. Excellent cutting, very faint inclusion off to one side does not detract from overall appearance and is difficult to detect with the eye. (Cut by Andrew Gulij).Closest Pantone coated color card in N daylight in San Diego: 487&488C are close
